Outdoor education just got better

YHA has teamed with Saltwater Training , one of the UK's leading providers of water sports qualifications, to offer an innovative Beach Education Programme. This exciting course is specifically designed for key stages 2, 3 and 4 incorporating different elements of the National Curriculum.

The two day course, based at YHA Treyarnon Bay on the stunning north Cornish coast near Padstow, is divided into four modules.

Day one pupils will undergo a beach education walk and will learn about the role of the beach lifeguard service and how to help someone using basic first aid skills. This module will focus on citizenship skills, science and geography. In the afternoon they will then enjoy a fantastic surfing lesson incorporating beach rescue techniques. All training will be provided by highly experienced professional instructors.

Day two focuses on a self-led cycle tour of the nearby Camel Trail, one of the UK’s most popular cycle routes in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The tour is suitable for all ability levels and bike hire is included.

All this from only £75 pp.

In addition to the Beach Education Programme Saltwater Training offers residential Beach Lifeguard and Surf Instructor courses.  A special discounted rate is currently available for any teachers and staff members enrolling on these courses. Gaining these qualifications will allow staff to supervise beach trips and take pupils into the water as well as providing a comprehensive first aid award.
